Children’s Hospital New Orleans celebrated the opening of its new, expanded Northshore Outpatient Therapy Clinic located at 5024 Keystone Blvd. in Covington on the campus of Lakeview Hospital with a ribbon cutting Feb. 1. The event, attended by St. Tammany Parish President Mike Cooper and St. Tammany Chamber of Commerce CEO Lacey Osborne, celebrated the new clinic which adds to the existing pediatric services already provided by Children’s Hospital on the campus of its LCMC Health sister hospital.

Recently elected Governor Jeff Landry made an appearance at the Louisiana Hospital Association’s two-day winter symposium last week carrying a newly negotiated board seat from the proposed new not for profit BCBSLA’s current board members are hoping to start with $3 billion extracted from BCBSLA, if the proposed buyout by Elevance, a for-profit insurer, is allowed.  Landry presented three options for the proposed deal, which must be approved by BCBSLA’s policy members and the newly appointed insurance commissioner, Tim Temple, who was also promised a seat on the board recently.

LSU Health School of Dentistry invited pre-K to fourth grade students from Esperanza Academy to participate in Give Kids a Smile Day. 

Faculty, students, and residents from the dental and dental hygiene programs teamed up to create a special day for the nearby school. Students dressed as dental characters welcomed the students off of their buses, as dentists and hygienists prepared for education, screenings, and sealants.

Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) is celebrating American Heart Month this February by creating awareness of cardiovascular disease prevalence and prevention. CIS is offering free cardiovascular screenings at various locations throughout the month to aid in early detection.
