DePaul Community Health Centers to Host A Date with Dad: The Art of Fatherhood 

DePaul Community Health Centers (DCHC), alongside DePaul's Infant Health Equity Program (DIEEP), Training Grounds, and Seven Star Academy, Inc., announced the forthcoming fathers wellness event, "A Date with Dad: the Art of Fatherhood." The event will be held on June 15 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Xavier University of Louisiana’s Administration Auditorium, 1 Drexel Dr. in New Orleans.

Designed to foster connection and learning amongst fathers and men within the community, this event promises a dynamic and supportive atmosphere. Attendees will have the unique opportunity to engage with community practitioners, experts, and researchers, gaining insights into best practices and the latest evidence-based approaches to the fatherhood journey.

"At DCHC, we recognize the vital role fathers play in nurturing healthy families and vibrant communities," remarked Michael G. Griffin, MSPH, DSc, FACHE, president & CEO of DCHC. "Through 'A Date with Dad: the Art of Fatherhood,' we aim to provide a supportive platform for fathers to enhance their parenting skills, forge meaningful connections, and celebrate the profound impact they have on their children's lives."

New Orleans District E Councilmember Oliver Thomas will be the keynote speaker and Dr. Corey Hebert will recognize and applaud the fathers present at the event. Media and public relations consultant Eddie Francis will serve as master of ceremonies.

More than 60 door prizes will be awarded with the top prizes consisting of two-three day passes to the 2024 Essence Festival, a PlayStation-5, a 50" smart television, and many other items. Attendees can anticipate an array of interactive workshops, insightful discussions, and empowering presentations centered around various facets of fatherhood, including effective parenting strategies, emotional well-being, and relationship cultivation.

Featured DCHC providers include: 

-Krystal Howard, NP: Howard will be addressing hypertension control and prostate health, offering crucial insights into maintaining optimal health for fathers.

-Dominique Lemieux, PhD: Lemieux will shed light on postpartum depression, providing valuable information and support for fathers navigating this challenging aspect of parenthood.
