Ascension DePaul Foundation of New Orleans (formerly Daughters of Charity Foundation of New Orleans) will host its 9th Annual Keeping Our Promises Gala on March 28 at the National World War II Museum’s U.S. Freedom Pavilion: The Boeing Center in New Orleans. A patron party begins at 7 p.m. followed by the gala at 8 p.m. Guests will enter the building at 1043 Magazine Street.

Proceeds from the event, presented by Louisiana Healthcare Connections, will be used to eradicate health disparities locally by providing access to high-quality healthcare to all members of the community.

For the 15th year, the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ) partnered with other Louisiana organizations to host the Louisiana Envirothon, an environmental problem-solving competition. Nine high school teams participated in the environmental competition that included testing in aquatics, forestry, soils, wildlife, and a current issue.

North Oaks Health System is accepting applications for the 2020 Junior Volunteer summer program now through May 1. Applicants must be between the ages of 14 and 17, attend a mandatory orientation on June 2, and commit to a minimum of four service hours per week during the eight-week program that runs from June 8-July 31. The Louisiana Center for Health Equity, in collaboration with the Louisiana Department of Health’s Office of Public Health and Pennington Biomedical Research Center, will host the 2020 Health Summit: Advancing Health Equity for Children and Families on March 3. Local, state, and nationally recognized public health and education professionals will lead discussions with the goal of creating a bold policy vision to improve health outcomes and quality of life for Louisiana children and families.
