The New Family Center at St. Tammany Health System’s flagship St. Tammany Parish Hospital has achieved the Birth Ready+ designation from the Louisiana Perinatal Quality Collaborative, a program administered through the state Department of Health.

This designation recognizes the health system’s consistent, thoughtful healthcare and quality improvement work. Additionally, it celebrates improved perinatal health outcomes, the result of implementing safe, equitable, and dignified clinical practices to improve outcomes for all people who give birth in Louisiana.

Ochsner Health cardiologist Salima Qamruddin, MD, MPH, FASE, FACC has been named a 2024 Women in STEM honoree by the American Heart Association and Entergy. This annual award gives recognition to six local female leaders who have demonstrated an exceptional commitment and made an impact in the field of science, technology, engineering, and math across New Orleans.

Lakeview Hospital, in collaboration with the Junior League of Greater Covington, will host the 20th annual Girls Health Day on April 13 from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on the Lakeview Hospital campus. The event is designed for girls from eight to 14 and their mothers or guardians.

Keynote speaker Kati Morse LeBreton will address social media and the digital age.

On March 12, Our Lady of the Angels Health celebrated 10 years of commitment to the Washington Parish community with Our Lady of the Angels Health team members and key community stakeholders, including Washington Parish President Ryan Seal. 

A blessing and prayer service was held, followed by a reception.  

The event was held in the main parking lot of Our Lady of the Angels Hospital in Bogalusa.

Steve Nelson, MD, will serve as chancellor of LSU Health New Orleans, pending a vote by the LSU Board of Supervisors. He has served as Interim Chancellor since the fall of 2021.

As part of his role, Nelson will oversee completion of the center's 10-year reaccreditation review cycle, a rigorous 18-month process designed to reflect the excellence of the program.
