Tulane Health System has promoted Ben Hughes to vice president of orthopedics and surgery for Tulane Health System, where he will lead growth, service, and operational initiatives for the service lines.
Xavier University of Louisiana has partnered with Ochsner Health System to establish a new physician assistant program. This program makes Xavier one of four colleges in Louisiana, one of two in New Orleans, and one of only three HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) in the nation to offer a physician assistant program. Xavier now offers students more than a dozen master’s degree options.

Receiving a white coat is an iconic rite of passage for a doctor-in-training. On Jan. 11, the University of Queensland (UQ) Ochsner Clinical School held its 10th annual White Coat Ceremony at the Jefferson Performing Arts Center in Metairie.
During the ceremony, 116 doctors-in-training received their White Coats and were presented with Humanism in Medicine pins – a visual reminder displayed on the lapel of each white coat to remind students to keep compassion and empathy at the center of clinical practice.
