Tulane University is launching a new nursing program through a collaboration between the Tulane School of Medicine (SoM) and the Tulane School of Professional Advancement (SoPA). The program will offer a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Sponsorship opportunities and event tickets are now available for the annual Pirate Party, set for Jan. 13 at the Columbia Street Tap Room in Covington. This event is hosted by Jack E. Saux, III, MD, medical oncologist, Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, and affectionately known as “The Pirate Oncologist.” Every year, this event raises awareness of local nonprofit organizations that support those impacted by cancer while celebrating great costuming, fun, and important causes.

Lakeview Hospital, a sponsor of the St. Tammany Project Christmas annual toy drive, recently collected new toys to be donated to underprivileged children in the community. Lakeview’s Jennifer Schmidt, Monique Jacobs, Tiche Bodet, Debbie Torres, Chad Cathey, and Ben Richaud presented the toys to Reuben Mango with St. Tammany Project Christmas. The nonprofit organization distributes the gifts to parents the week before Christmas so they can surprise their children with gifts on Christmas morning.
DePaul Community Health Centers (DCHC), in collaboration with Toys for Tots, Thrive Community Center, and other community partners, will host a Christmas toy giveaway on Dec. 23 from 10 a.m.-12 noon. The event will be held at Thrive Community Center, 3600 Desire Parkway in New Orleans. The event is free and open to the public.
The child must be present to receive their toy. Toys will be given away on a first come, first served basis. Pre-registration is not required. For more information, call (504) 207-3060.
