Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) was awarded Gold Status by the American Heart Association (AHA) and the American Medical Association (AMA) for leading the national effort to get patient blood pressure rates under control and reducing the number of Americans who have heart attacks and strokes each year.

CIS is one of 542 physician practices and health systems recognized nationally by the AMA and AHA Target: BP program for achieving blood pressure control rates of 70 percent or more in their adult patient population with high blood pressure.

To our knowledge, Louisiana Cancer Data Visualization provides the most complete information of any online state-specific, cancer resource tool in the United States.

Lakeview Regional Medical Center, a campus of Tulane Medical Center, has earned international recognition as a designated “Baby-Friendly” birth facility by Baby-Friendly USA. This award recognizes birth facilities that offer breastfeeding mothers the information, confidence, and skills needed to successfully initiate and continue breastfeeding their babies.

Ochsner Health System’s (Ochsner) Ochsner Hospital for Orthopedics & Sports Medicine is now open. The state-of-the-art facility is designed for orthopedic and sports medicine surgery and will offer advanced anesthesia and pain techniques, resulting in less pain and a quicker recovery. Located at 1221 S. Clearview Pkwy., Ochsner Hospital for Orthopedics & Sports Medicine underwent extensive renovations, which began in October of 2017. More than 3,500 patients will be cared for annually at the hospital.

Tulane University senior James Rogers has been charting a course in the name of research since he arrived on campus in the fall of 2016. Rogers’ journey has led him from New Orleans to Bethesda, Md., across the Atlantic to Scotland and, most recently, Switzerland, where he spent the summer as a visiting research scholar in the Brain Tumor Center at the University Hospital Zürich (USZ).
