St. Tammany Health System has named veteran nurse executive Lori Sumner, MSN, RN, as its new chief nursing officer. She brings more than three decades of leadership experience in nursing operations, quality, patient safety, and workforce development to the health system.
Sumner is scheduled to begin her new assignment in September.
She succeeds Kerry Milton, who retired in June.

Thibodaux Regional Health System announced that its Rehabilitation Center has again been re-accredited by CARF International for a period of three years for its inpatient rehabilitation services. This latest accreditation is the 12th consecutive three-year accreditation that the international accrediting body has awarded to the Center.
Additionally, Thibodaux Regional Rehabilitation Center’s Stroke Specialty program has been re-accredited for another three-year period.
The Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food and Nutrition Administration (USDA FNA) has approved Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP) benefits for eligible households affected by Tropical Storm Arthur. USDA FNA also approved automatic supplemental SNAP benefits for eligible current SNAP recipients.
Midwest Poultry Services, L.P. is voluntarily recalling 1,589,577 dozen white shell eggs and brown cage free shell eggs produced in Texas because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella Enteritidis. Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
