East Jefferson General Hospital (EJGH), for the third consecutive year, has been rated No. 1 in overall hospital care, as well as patient safety and overall medical care in Louisiana, garnering it’s highest possible ranking--a “check plus plus” status--by the 2018 CareChex quality rating system.
East Jefferson also garnered high marks from Healthgrades, a nationwide provider of patient safety data, which awarded EJGH with the Stroke Care Excellence Award and Neurosciences Excellence Award, noting the hospital’s superior outcomes in those categories.
“To be named number one in the state once is outstanding, but to do it for a third straight term highlights our commitment to our patients,” said EJGH President and CEO Gerald Parton. “Our dedication to excellent medical outcomes and patient safety remains our top priority; these latest quality rankings confirm our standing in the healthcare industry.”
Also for the third consecutive year, EJGH has improved its CareChex national standings, leaping up to No. 10 in the country in the overall hospital care category.
The overall hospital care quality rating is measured based upon six core values made up of mortality rate, complications, patient quality, core process, patient safety, and patient satisfaction. The hospital was also named No. 1 in Louisiana for gastrointestinal care, general surgery, pulmonary care, and stroke care, according to the CareChex medical excellence award summary.
CareChex is an information service of Quantros, Inc. CareChex provides clinical, financial, and patient satisfaction findings to consumers, providers, and purchasers of United States medical care. Unlike other publicly available quality ratings, CareChex provides a composite evaluation of all components of medical quality, including process of care, outcomes of care, and patient experiences.
According to Healthgrades, the majority of patients who receive their care at EJGH are likely to recommend the hospital to fellow patients. East Jefferson General Hospital also rated as expected or better than expected in all 13 safety indicators.
Healthgrades is an independent rating entity dedicated to empowering stronger and more meaningful connections between patients and their healthcare providers.
