To encourage Louisianians to take a break from alcohol, Ochsner Eat Fit is kicking off its seventh annual Alcohol Free for 40 Challenge on Ash Wednesday, March 2.
Cutting out alcohol even for just 40 days can significantly improve whole-body wellness. This challenge provides participants with the resources, education, and support needed to abstain from alcohol and benefit from a “wellness spring cleaning.” In fact, data from past Alcohol Free for 40 challenges reveals substantial health improvements including a significant drop in blood pressure, weight, and body fat, along with improved cholesterol, triglycerides, and liver enzymes.
Participants in the challenge are asked to stop drinking alcohol completely for 40 days — from March 2 (Ash Wednesday) until April 17 (Easter Sunday).
Register at AlcoholFreeFor40.com by clicking on the button for your city or region. Registration closes at midnight on Sunday, Feb. 27.
Anyone can join the #AlcoholFreeFor40 Facebook group for social support and comradery, to ask questions, follow the journey of others, and share personal experiences, challenges, and successes.
