UMC is Accredited for Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention

University Medical Center New Orleans (UMC) announced its exclusive accreditation for Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) by the American College of Cardiology (ACC), making it the sole accredited hospital in Orleans Parish.

Primary PCI, a critical procedure for treating heart attacks, is now provided at University Medical Center's Chest Pain Center. The ACC accreditation signifies that the center has met rigorous criteria, ensuring patients receive prompt and effective interventions.

“Our collaboration with experts in the field has been instrumental in implementing best practices and achieving this accreditation,” said Murtuza J. Ali, MD, FACC, medical director of the UMCNO Chest Pain Center. “This recognition reflects our commitment to excellence and innovation in cardiac care.”

The accreditation process involved the thorough evaluation of the hospital’s ability to diagnose and treat heart attack patients. University Medical Center's Chest Pain Center surpassed stringent standards, delivering timely interventions and optimal outcomes.
