Thibodaux Regional Health System announced the expansion of its wound care services with the addition of an outpatient center dedicated to treating chronic wounds such as diabetes-related foot ulcers, venous insufficiency ulcers (from swollen legs), pressure sores, and other conditions.
Thibodaux Regional Wound Care & Limb Preservation Center located at 290 Bowie Road, Suite A, Thibodaux, will provide state-of-the-art treatments and technology including two hyperbaric oxygen therapy units. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is utilized for patients who have conditions that may benefit from breathing in 100% oxygen under pressure greater than sea level. Patients with diabetic foot ulcers, late effects of radiation, chronic bone infections, and several other conditions will be evaluated and appropriately treated utilizing the hyperbaric unit if needed.
“With the incidence and prevalence of chronic, non-healing wounds on the rise, Thibodaux Regional has further developed services that provide quality wound care and reduce limb amputations,” said Greg Stock, CEO, Thibodaux Regional Health System. “Our goal is to improve the quality of life for patients and provide comprehensive wound care and limb preservation care close to home.”
