Terrebonne General Health System (Terrebonne General) and Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) announced the successful completion of its 1,000th Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) procedure.
The TAVR program, launched in 2012, offers patients with severe aortic stenosis a life-saving, less invasive alternative to open-heart surgery.
It has been an honor to participate in and watch the evolution of Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) over the past 13 years,” said Peter Fail, MD, interventional cardiologist at Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) in Houma and Director of the Structural Heart Program at CIS. “From the early trials when we all struggled to figure it out, through commercialization, to where we are today.”
