Lakeview Regional Medical Center and the Mandeville Lions Club are co-hosting a “Healthy Living” event in recognition of National Diabetes Awareness month, which this year has a special focus on the link between diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
The event, which will feature health information, a cooking demonstration, and giveaway items, will be held on Nov. 16 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Lion's Hall, 720 Lafitte Street in Mandeville.
Twenty-three registered nurses with Ochsner and its affiliated hospitals were recognized in the 2019 Great Nurses of Louisiana list compiled annually by The Great 100 Nurses Foundation.

Jayne S. Weiss, MD, professor and chair of ophthalmology at LSU Health New Orleans School of Medicine and chief medical officer of LSU Healthcare Network, was selected as the recipient of the 2020 Castroviejo Award. The award is given annually by the Cornea Society to “the most outstanding individual in the field of cornea and anterior segment.” Since the award was first given in 1975, only two other women have received it; Dr. Weiss will be the third. The announcement was made at the American Academy of Ophthalmology Annual Meeting in San Francisco.

Ochsner Health System (Ochsner) and population genomics technology company, Color, announced a first of its kind, fully-digital population health pilot program that integrates clinical genomics into standard care as part of Ochsner’s focus on delivering personalized healthcare. Developed by Ochsner’s innovation lab, innovationOchsner (iO), the health system’s program will proactively identify patients who are at higher risk for certain hereditary cancers and heart disease with the goal of early detection and prevention of future illness.
