A growing body of research highlights the benefits these communities can pro- vide. Studies on social participation con- sistently show that regular engagement, like shared meals, group activities, and organized programs, can strengthen emo- tional well-being, support cognitive vital- ity, and increase daily purpose. And recent analyses published in JAMA Internal Medicine even suggest that many older adults become more socially active after moving into a residential community, particularly when those communities are intentional about programming and inclu- sion.
