The award is bolstered by two advanced AHA recognitions: Stroke Honor Roll Elite designation, for meeting specific criteria that reduce the time between an eligible patient’s arrival at the hospital and treat- ment with thrombolytic therapy. Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll designation, which aims to ensure patients with type 2 diabetes, who might be at higher risk for complications, receive the most up-to-date, evidence-based care when hospitalized due to stroke. Touro Attains National Accreditation fromAmerican College of Surgeons National Accreditation Program for Breast Cancer Touro announced that it has received accredi- tation under the American College of Surgeons (ACS) National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). Breast cancer is the most common cancer diag- nosed in women in the United States after skin cancers. Programs accredited by the NAPBC follow a model for organizing and managing a breast center to facilitate multidisciplinary, inte- grated, and comprehensive breast cancer ser- vices. By setting high standards, NAPBC accreditation guides breast centers in pro- viding comprehensive breast care based on sci- entific evidence. “We are thrilled to receive this prestigious accreditation from the American College of Sur- geons in recognition of our outstanding Breast Care program at Touro,” explained Christopher Lege, MD, president and chief executive officer at Touro. “With breast cancer cases continuing to rise in our state and the greater New Orleans area, it’s our mission as a community hospital to provide the most advanced, high-quality, and comprehen- sive care to our patients.
