A native of New Orleans and a graduate of Ben- jamin Franklin High School, Robinson’s journey in medicine began at Xavier University of New Orleans, where she graduated magna cum laude in 2001 with a degree in chemistry pre-med. She then pursued a medical degree at Tulane Univer- sity School of Medicine, graduating in 2005. Rob- inson completed a residency in emergency med- icine at LSUHSC in 2009 and is currently an ABEM board-certified emergency medicine physician. Robinson’s professional career began in 2009 as a staff emergency medicine physician at St. West JeffersonMedical Center Names James Callaghan, MD, as CMO West Jefferson Medical Center (WJMC) announces the appointment of James Callaghan, MD, as chief medical officer. Callaghan has been an integral part of WJMC since 1994. His exten- sive expertise in emergency medicine, a field in which he has been board-certified since 1995, has been pivotal in providing critical care at the med- ical center. Callaghan began his journey with WJMC as an emergency department staff physician and has since held several key positions, including mem- ber at large, vice chief of staff, and chief of staff. Callaghan's academic credentials include a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and a Master of Sci- ence from the University of New Orleans. He earned an MD from LSU Medical School in New Orleans and completed an emergency medicine residency at LSU New Orleans/Charity Hospital in 1994. Callaghan is an active member of prestigious medical organizations such as the Louisiana State Medical Society, the American College of Emer- gency Physicians, the American Academy of Emer- gency Medicine, and the Jefferson Parish Medi- cal Society. To start, six doctors will complete their family medicine training over the next three years at the 18,000-square-foot, purpose-built St. Tammany Physicians Network North Covington clinic at 17240 Heartbeat Circle near the intersection of U.S. 190 and Louisiana 25. The program was established as a strategic response to the ongoing national shortage of family medicine practitioners and is the culmina- tion of five years of preparation and planning by the STHS Board of Commissioners, medical staff and executive team, in partnership with Ochsner Health. Once at full capacity, the program will graduate eight new family medicine physicians each year. The North Covington clinic at which they are based offers a full range of care, including acute and preventive care for children and adults; wom- en’s health services including Pap smears and con- traceptive counseling; on-site physical therapy; and in-office surgical procedures such as skin biopsies, abscess drainage and joint injection.
