72 NOV / DEC 2024 I HEALTHCARE JOURNAL OF NEW ORLEANS Hospital Rounds Cancer Center Expansion Completed at Terrebonne General Health System A significant renovation and expansion proj- ect has been recently completed in a number of areas as part of the Terrebonne General | Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center. Terrebonne General has invested more than $4 million into this renova- tion, which includes adding an expansive infusion suite, a fitness and wellness area, enhancing radia- tion technology, key cancer support services, and expanding the facility by more than 15,336 square feet to serve the Bayou Region. The project’s upgrades include: • Relocating the infusion center to the third floor of the clinic. • An increase from 22 to 27 infusion bays. • An increase in clinic exam rooms from 8 to 20. • Semi-private bays with TVs. • Common area treatment space for patients to be in the company of others if they choose. • Additional private rooms for patients who wish to receive infusions in a quieter environment. • The Market on the Move cart, offering patients and guests healthy snack and drink options while getting treatment. The Cancer Center’s renovation has included multiple support services, all of which further Ter- rebonne General | Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Cen- ter’s commitment to bringing support and heal- ing to patients. Pediatric Cancer Program at Children’s Hospital New Orleans Receives $100K Children’s Hospital New Orleans announced a $100,000 Impact Award from Hyundai Hope On Wheels that will support the more than 2,000 chil- dren from across Louisiana and the Gulf South who are cared for by the hospital’s Center for Can- cer and Blood Disorders each year. The donation will be used to provide financial assistance to families facing financial burden to help cover the cost of necessities like food, medi- cation, and housing and to help amplify the expe- rience of patients and families who are receiving care in the hospital. St. Tammany Parish Hospital Recognized for Heart Attack Treatment St. Tammany Parish Hospital has received the American College of Cardiology’s NCDR Chest Pain - MI Registry Platinum Performance Achieve- ment Award for 2024. It is one of only 259 hospi- tals nationwide to receive the honor. Terrebonne General Health SystemAdds Physician Specialists Terrebonne General Health System announced the addition of new physician specialists. Andrew J. Bergeron, MD, hospital medicine specialist; Spencer L. Robichaux, MD, PhD, anesthesiologist; and Patrick J. St. Martin, MD, family and sports medicine specialist, will join the medical staff. Bergeron earned a Bachelor of Science in nurs- ing from Nicholls State University in Thibodaux. He started pre-med requirements at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, and finished at Nicholls State University. He completed a medi- cal degree at NYIT College of Osteopathic Medi- cine in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Bergeron completed a pediatric internship at Our Lady of the Lake Chil- dren's Hospital in Baton Rouge, and a family med- icine residency at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Bergeron is a member of the American Acad- emy of Family Physicians and the American Med- ical Association. He will join the Terrebonne Gen- eral Hospital Medicine team to care for inpatients. Robichaux graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama. He completed a PhD in microbi- ology and medical degree at Louisiana State Uni- versity School of Medicine in New Orleans. He fin- ished his anesthesia residency and cardiothoracic anesthesia fellowship at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, where he was the administrative chief resident. Robichaux is a member of the American Med- ical Association, the American Society of Anes- thesiologists, the Louisiana State Medical Society, and the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiolo- gists. Robichaux will join the Terrebonne General Anesthesiology team. St. Martin earned a Bachelor of Science in Biol- ogy from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, and a Master of Science in Medical Sciences from Mississippi College in Clinton. He earned a medical degree from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreve- port, where he also completed a residency in fam- ily medicine and a fellowship in sports medicine. St. Martin is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine, American Academy of Family Physicians, American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, USA Boxing, and Northwest Louisi- ana Medical Society.
