In March, STHS was awarded Chest Pain Cen- ter Accreditation with Primary Percutaneous Cor- onary Intervention (PCI) based on rigorous onsite evaluation of the staff’s ability to evaluate, diag- nose, and treat patients who may be experienc- ing a heart attack. Percutaneous coronary intervention, also known as coronary angioplasty, is a non-surgical proce- dure that opens narrowed or blocked coronary arteries with a balloon to relieve symptoms of heart disease or reduce heart damage during or after a heart attack. Maidoh has been a nephrologist at Terrebonne General for 29 years and is board-certified in inter- nal medicine. Maidoh graduated from medical school at the University of Ibadan in Ibadan, Nigeria. He then completed an internship and residency at Har- lem Hospital Center in New York. Following this, he pursued a fellowship in nephrology at Louisi- ana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans. The Golden Stethoscope Award publicly rec- ognizes a Terrebonne General physician for their exceptional professionalism, integrity, and team- work in caring for patients and families and inter- acting with hospital staff members and other physicians. “I am humbled, honored, and deeply apprecia- tive of this honor from my peers,” said Maidoh. Ochsner Health Nurses Honored by LA State Nursing Association Ten Ochsner Health nurses have been named to Louisiana State Nursing Association’s (LSNA) inaugural “40 under 40” list. This award recognizes future leaders of nursing in Louisiana. LSNA selected 40 outstanding nurse leaders 40 years of age and under who exemplify dedica- tion to the nursing profession and demonstrate the qualities of a good leader.
