SEXUAL VIOLENCE Heidi Martin BSN, RN, SANE-A, received an RN degree from Charity School of Nursing in New Orleans and a BSN from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She became a forensic nurse specialist at University Medical Center New Orleans (UMCNO) in 2017 and was the first full-time forensic RN at UMCNO. She was SANE-A certified in 2018. Martin works to provide education on sexual assault exams, providing trauma-informed care, and strangulation treatment. She cares exclusively for patients that have experienced sexual assault, interpersonal violence, and human trafficking. Erika Rajo, PsyD, is a licensed clinical psychologist in Louisiana, assistant professor of clinical psychiatry at LSU Health Sciences Center, and director of the Seeds of NOLA Trauma Recovery Center at University Medical Center New Orleans. She earned a Master of Science in clinical psychology from Loyola University Maryland then assisted with NIH-funded projects in the Behavioral Psychopharmacology Research Unit at Johns Hopkins University before earning a doctorate in clinical psychology from Pepperdine University inSouthernCalifornia. Shehasworkedwith trauma survivors, from infants to adults, for over a decade and specializes in PTSD screening/assessment and treatment following acute traumatic injury. Sandy Hyatt, PsyD, licensed clinical psychologist and assistant professor of clinical psychiatry at LSU Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC), specializes in working with trauma survivors and their loved ones. In her role at University Medical Center (UMC), she serves as the associate director for Seeds of NOLA Trauma Recovery Center and leads multiple staff wellness initiatives to promote trauma-informed care within the hospital. Additionally, as director of group supervision of supervision for LSUHSC's psychology internship program, she trains psychology trainees and psychiatry residents. Hyatt’s professional and clinical interests also include health psychology, programmatic development, increasing access to treatment for underserved populations, and culturally responsive treatment and education.
