I have served on the board of directors since the creation of this organization and have witnessed examples of outstanding leaders who have precededme at MASELA. Aspecial thank you to Gabriella Pridjian, MD, for the exceptional leadership she has provided to MASELA over the past year and previous- ly as a board member. I hope to steer our organization in a forward direction, con- tinuing to make it more successful. Thank you for being an integral part of the Medical Association of Southeast Louisiana. Mark Rice,MD, is a board-certified emergencymed- icine physician in Southeastern Louisiana.He gradu- ated fromLouisiana State University in Baton Rouge in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry. Rice completed medical school at Louisiana State University School of Medicine inNewOrleans in 2006 and continued in residency at LSUHSCNewOrleans in emergencymedicine.After completing residency, Rice was certified by the American Board of Emer- gency Medicine and has continued maintenance of this certification. Rice is currently vice president for the West Jef- ferson Emergency Physicians Group in Marrero, Louisiana. He practices clinically in several private practice emergency medicine settings throughout Southeastern Louisiana. In addition to clinical prac- tice,Rice has served as boardmember and president of organizations such as the Louisiana chapter of theAmerican College of Emergency Physicians, the Louisiana chapter of theAmericanAcademy of Emer- gency Medicine, Jefferson Parish Medical Society, and Jefferson Physicians’Foundation.
