Amelia Castell Honored as a Child Passenger Safety Hero Terrebonne General Health System's Commu- nity Wellness Project Coordinator, Amelia Castell, was honored with the Child Passenger Safety Hero Award. Castell is the community wellness project coordinator at the Terrebonne General Healthy Lifestyles Center. Terrebonne General Health System, in con- junction with Louisiana State Police and Louisi- ana Passenger Safety Task Force, offers free car seat inspections at Terrebonne General Women's Health Center every Wednesday of the month. The team teaches how to select the proper child restraint, ensure that your child is placed into the restraint properly, and confirm that the restraint is correctly installed in your vehicle. It is estimated that 96% of child restraints are installed incorrectly. The Child Passenger Safety (CPS) award honors technicians and instructors for their considerable knowledge and expertise in various community- based activities, such as child safety seat checks, where parents and caregivers receive education and hands-on assistance. Louisiana has over 630 child passenger safety technicians; three techs from each region are awarded annually the CPS Hero Award for their exemplary efforts. Thibodaux Regional Health SystemWelcomes MatthewTaylor, MD Thibodaux Regional Health System announced the addition of Matthew Taylor, MD, family medi- cine, to the active medical staff. Taylor is available to care for patients at Thibodaux Regional Multi- Specialty Clinic located at 4560 Hwy. 1, Suite 3, in Raceland, Louisiana. Taylor served in the Marine Corps after high school and then went on to earn an undergradu- ate degree in Biology and an MBA in Healthcare Administration from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Taylor received a medical degree from Windsor University School of Medicine and com- pleted a residency in family medicine at Memo- rial/LSUHSC in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Taylor is board-certified in family medicine. Tay- lor and his wife, Caroline Robichaux, MD, also a family medicine physician, will to practice at Thibodaux Regional. Children’s Hospital NONames Benjamin K. Watkins, MD, Director of Cell Therapy Program Children’s Hospital New Orleans announced that Benjamin Watkins, MD, has joined the hos- pital’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders as director of its stem cell transplant and cell ther- apy program. He has also been appointed clinical professor for the Department of Pediatrics’ Sec- tion of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology at Tulane University School of Medicine. Watkins joins Children’s Hospital New Orleans after serving as associate professor for the Depart- ment of Pediatrics, director of high-risk leukemia and lymphoma program and director of global oncology program at Emory University, and the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center at Chil- dren's Healthcare of Atlanta. Watkins' clinical interests include bone marrow transplantation for hematologic malignancies, graft-versus-host disease, and late effects of transplant. In his aca- demic work, Watkins’ research primarily focuses on graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), which is the primary cause of long-term morbidity and mor- tality following hematopoietic stem cell trans- plant (HCT). His work has been NIH funded and helped pave the way for the first drug to be FDA approved for the prevention of GVHD. He cur- rently leads multiple clinical trials investigating new drugs to prevent GVHD. Watkins completed medical degree and pedi- atric residency from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He completed a pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at Emory Univer- sity School of Medicine, and a blood and marrow transplant fellowship at Seattle Children's Hospital and the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance.
