Molloy will oversee the organization’s accounting, financial planning and analysis, reimbursement, and revenue cycle functions, as well as managed care contracting and treasury. Molloy will join Ochsner in July 2023 and work side-by-side with Ochsner’s current CFO, Scott Posecai, who will retire as CFO in December 2023, following a 36-year career with Ochsner. The lead- ers will work together through the end of the year to ensure a seamless transition. St. Tammany Health System Unveils Breast Biopsy System In an effort to increase procedural precision and efficiency while decreasing patient anxiety, St. Tammany Health System’s Women’s Pavilion recently introduced to the Northshore a Hologic prone stereotactic breast biopsy system. It is one of just two such systems in use in the region. Ochsner Health’s Edward Bluth Honored by American College of Radiology Ochsner Health announced that radiologist Edward Bluth, MD, FACR, has been awarded the 2023 Gold Medal of the American College of Radiology (ACR). Bluth received the recogni- tion May 7, during the ACR 2023 Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. The ACR Gold Medal is awarded by the board of chancellors to an individual for distinguished and extraordinary service to the ACR or to the dis- cipline of radiology. Bluth was one of only three recipients to receive the award this year and is only the second person from Louisiana to receive it. In the 100-year history of the ACR, just over 200 people have been so awarded. In 1981, Sey- mour Ochsner, MD, who practiced in Ochsner’s Department of Radiation Oncology and served as chairman of radiology, was the first Louisianan to receive the honor. Bluth is responsible for several advances in ultra- sound, including developing the first internation- ally adopted criteria to grade carotid artery ste- nosis; the use of diagnostic ultrasound to identify abnormalities of the stomach, small bowel, and colon including appendicitis; and numerous crite- ria used to identify solid organ transplant abnor- malities of the liver, pancreas, and kidneys. SMHRegional Cancer Center Opens Comprehensive Cancer Care Clinic Slidell Memorial Hospital Regional Cancer Cen- ter launched a new offering to patients in Slidell: the Comprehensive Cancer Care Clinic. The 2,947-square-foot new Comprehensive Can- cer Care Clinic is designed to allow collaboration among cancer experts while putting patients at ease in a boutique-style, healing environment. By bringing together each patient’s key physi- cians, including their medical oncologist, radi- ation oncologist, and general surgeon, along with their nurse navigator, at the same appoint- ment, the structure of this clinic program drasti- cally shortens the amount of time between can- cer diagnosis and treatment. Ochsner Health Eliminates 770 Employee Positions In a May 11, 2023 message fromOchsner Health CEO Pete November, it was announced that the organization is reducing the size of its workforce “by eliminating 770 positions.” The number rep- resents roughly 2% of the health system’s team. “Impacted positions are management and pri- marily non-direct patient care roles. No physicians are impacted by this reduction, and any impacted employees with active clinical credentials will be offered direct patient care roles,” the message read. “Despite progress and our significant efforts to reduce expenses, we need to do more to ensure we can continue to deliver on our mission and meet the needs of the patients and communities we serve,” added November. “I take very seriously the gravity of this decision and its impact on our team members and their families,” November wrote. “We will do every- thing we can to deliver the resources and sup- port our team needs and treat everyone leaving our organization with the respect and dignity they deserve.” Terrebonne General Health SystemNames Brett Chiasson, MS, LAT, ATCDirector of Healthy Lifestyles Center Terrebonne General Health System has named Brett Chiasson, MS, LAT, ATC Director of Healthy Lifestyles Center. Terrebonne General’s Healthy Lifestyles Center partners with the community to provide educa- tion on health, wellness, and preventative care. In his new role as director, Chiasson will be respon- sible for overseeing the Healthy Lifestyles Center’s health and wellness programs offered by Terre- bonne General. This includes Community Sports Institute and Sports Performance Training Center.
