The new officers together with the incoming board of directors will continue their focus on developing physician well-being initia- tives and assisting physicians with busi- ness of medicine education and advocacy. MASELA looks forward to another year of significant membership growth and physi- cian engagement andmaking a considerable impact in Southeast Louisiana. The following physicians are MASELA’s 2023 officers: INCOMING PRESIDENT Gabriella Pridjian, MD, MBA Gabriella Pridjian, MD, MBA, completed undergraduate education at the University of Wisconsin and medical education at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee followed by ob-gyn residency atThe Univer- sity of Chicago, Chicago Lying-In Hospital, where she was administrative chief resident. She also pursued a maternal-fetal medicine and human genetics fellowships. Beginning in 2004, Pridjian assumed the chairmanship of obstetrics and gynecology at Tulane University School of Medicine as the C. Jeff Miller Chair and became the as- sociate dean for surgical services in 2016. Pridjian sought leadership training in the Executive Leadership in Academic Medi- cine program for women at Drexel Uni- versity, Philadelphia. She also completed a master’s degree in business administration with a concentration in finance at Tulane University. Pridjian has served in many organized medicine leadership roles including serv- ing on the board of Orleans Parish Medical Society and on the board of directors of the MASELA 2023 Elected Leadership Will Continue Physician-Centric Priorities newly formed MASELA beginning in 2020. She was named president-elect in 2022. PRESIDENT-ELECT Mark Rice, MD Mark Rice, MD, is a Louisiana native and is a board-certified emergency med- icine physician. Rice attended LSU in Ba- ton Rouge where he graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry. He graduated fromLSU School of Medicine, NewOrleans in 2006. Rice matched in emer- gency medicine at LSUHSC New Orleans where he fostered interests in disaster and tactical medicine. He served his final year of residency as chief resident for emergency medicine and graduated in 2010. Rice became board-certified in emergen- cy medicine in 2011 and is a diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine. He served on the state board of the American College of Emergency Physicians as a resi- dent representative, boardmember-at-large, and president. He is a fellow of theAmerican College of Emergency Medicine and of the AmericanAcademy of Emergency Medicine. Rice has served in multiple capacities with the Jefferson Parish Medical Society and MASELA. His professional career has included working with Ochsner Health Sys- tem as both a staff physician and assistant medical director of the Ochsner West Bank Emergency Department. Currently, Rice is the vice president of the West Jefferson Emergency Physicians Group and staff physician at West Jefferson Medical Center. SECRETARY Harold Miller, Jr., MD Harold J. Miller, Jr., MD, is a New Orle- ans native and board-certified in internal medicine and endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism. He earned a medical degree in 1991 from LSU School of Medicine and completed an internal medicine residency in 1994 and endocrinology fellowship at Alton Ochsner Medical Foundation in New Orle- ans in 1996. He is a fellow in the American College of Endocrinology. Miller has offices in Covington and Metairie. Miller served as the MASELA treasurer in 2022, and he serves on the board of direc- tors of the Jefferson Parish Medical Society. TREASURER William J. Daly, Jr., MD William J. Daly, Jr., MD earned a medical degree from the Tulane University Health Sciences Center. Following graduation, he completed an internship at Tulane Univer- sity School of Medicine in 1989 as well as residencies at Tulane and at Alton Ochsner Medical Foundation. Daly has been on staff at Ochsner since 2005 and practices at the Ochsner Medical Center. He is board-certified by the Ameri- can Board of Anesthesiology. Daly served as president of Orleans Par- ish Medical Society in 2014 and has served on the board of MASELAsince its inception in 2020. Outgoing officers and the incoming offi- cers and board will be installed at a special even in early March. George Ellis, Jr., MD, will be recognized for his leadership as pres- ident of MASELA for 2022 — a year which has seen considerable progress. Now is the time to get involved with the fast-growing and value-richMedical Associ- ation of Southeast Louisiana.
