Magee attended Louisiana State University, where he received a Bachelor of Science in psy- chology, a master’s in public administration, and a juris doctor, Bachelor of Civil Law. Magee was elected in 2015 and 2020 to serve in the Louisi- ana House of Representatives and was addition- ally elected as speaker pro tempore. He is the owner of Landry Magee, LLC, a law firm located in Houma. Terrebonne General Health SystemReceives Funds to Expand Sudden Impact Program Terrebonne General Health System received funds from the Lafourche Parish Council to expand the Sudden Impact Program. Terrebonne General Health System is the only hospital in the region to offer the Sudden Impact distracted driving pro- gram, a researched-based, data-driven preven- tion program to decrease the number of injuries and fatalities related to motor vehicle crashes. The Sudden Impact program is taught over a calendar school year and consists of classroom training, a mock crash, and a mock trial. Hector A. Linares, MD, Honored as Recipient of Terrebonne General Golden Stethoscope Award Terrebonne General Health System announced Hector A. Linares, MD, physical medicine and rehabilitation, as the recipient of the Golden Stethoscope Award. The Golden Stethoscope Award publicly rec- ognizes a Terrebonne General physician for their exceptional level of professionalism, integrity, and teamwork in caring for patients and families, as well as interacting with hospital staff members and other physicians. Nominations can be made by physicians, employees, patients, and volun- teers. Two physicians a year are recognized with this award. Linares has been the director of Rehabilitation Services at Terrebonne General for 32 years. He completed medical school at Universidad de El Salvador in 1979 and completed a residency and internship at LSU New Orleans. He has lifetime board certification through the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Linares served on several leadership committees includ- ing the Medical Staff Performance Improvement Committee and Medical Executive Committee. He also served as chief of staff from 2009-2010 and vice chief of staff from 2007-2008. Children’s Hospital NO, North Oaks Health System Expand Healthcare Services North Oaks Health System and Children’s Hos- pital New Orleans announced this week that they are expanding healthcare services for children and families across Tangipahoa Parish and the North- shore Region, with the vision to improve both access to pediatric services and health outcomes. The clinical affiliation builds upon existing ser- vices, which are provided by Children’s Hospital New Orleans at North Oaks Medical Center today, which include neonatology, pediatric hospitalist coverage, and pediatric cardiology services. In the new affiliation agreement, the organizations will explore opportunities for Children’s Hospital to provide additional pediatric services at North Oaks, bringing specialized care for children closer to home for families. “By collaborating with Children’s Hospital New Orleans, we believe we can fulfill our mission of improving lives, every time, with each touch for children of the Northshore. We intend to build upon our existing relationship and enhance our pediatric service line through the addition of pedi- atric subspecialists and development of new pedi- atric services at North Oaks Medical Center and in the surrounding communities across multiple phases,” said Michele Kidd Sutton, FACHE, pres- ident and CEO of North Oaks Health System. St. Tammany Parenting Center Named Certified AutismCenter St. Tammany Health System’s Parenting Center has been named a Certified Autism Center by the International Board of Credentialing and Continu- ing Education Standards. It is the fifth St. Tammany Health System facil- ity to earn the designation, joining the Pedi- atric Emergency Department and the Pediat- ric Inpatient Unit at the health system’s flagship St. Tammany Parish Hospital; the STHS Bone & Joint Clinic; as well as its St. Tammany Pediatrics practice. To become a Certified Autism Center, a facili- ty’s staff is required to complete autism-specific training and certification to ensure they can bet- ter interact with clients who have autism or sen- sory sensitivities, and to ensure them that the staff can be trusted and are there to help. Otolaryngologists Louis Hebert, MD, and Brian McManus, MD, work alongside audiologist Alicia Moore to assess, diagnose, and treat a complex and comprehensive scope of ear, nose, and throat conditions.
