Children’s Hospital NO is January 2022 Hospital of theMonth Children’s Hospital New Orleans announced that it was selected as the January 2022 Hospital of the Month by Children’s Hospitals’ Solutions for Patient Safety (SPS). “It takes the entire organization’s commitment to build a culture of safety, and I am incredibly proud of the culture we have built at Children’s Hospital New Orleans,” said Leron Finger, MD, associate chief medical officer and chief quality officer. “Safety and quality are things that we live all day, every day, and this SPS recognition is a reflection of that commitment.” Ochsner Health Awarded $2.9M to BuildWorkforce Mental Health, Resiliency Ochsner Health has been awarded $2.9 million by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Ser- vices (HHS), through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), as part of a com- petitive grant process designed to “improve the retention of health care workers and help respond to the nation’s critical staffing needs by reducing burnout and promoting mental health and well- ness among the health care workforce.” Led by its Office of Professional Well-Being, Ochsner will invest the funds in programs to create an organi- zational culture that supports the well-being and resilience of the workforce, institutionalize effec- tive practices, and boost workforce engagement. The funds will be used by Ochsner over three years to support evidence-based or evidence- informed solutions. LakeviewRegional’s Shane Brossette, RN, is Daisy AwardWinner Lakeview Regional Medical Center, a campus of Tulane Medical Center, announced that Shane Brossette, RN, received the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses during the third quarter of 2021. The DAISY Award is an international rec- ognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care that nurses pro- vide every day. Brossette received a hand-carved statue and a framed certificate from the DAISY organization. Brossette, a post anesthesia care unit (PACU) nurse, was nominated by a recent patient who had surgery at Lakeview Regional in June. “Shane took excellent care of me while in recovery,” said the nomination. “He explained everything he was doing. When I moaned, he was right there at my side to see what I needed. His care went beyond my expectations. I felt safe and cared for while Shane was with me. Now I always request him when I have surgery because I know he will always be there meeting my needs. He is the absolute best!” Brossette is a retired Navy veteran and has served as a nurse for both the military and HCA Healthcare, Lakeview Regional’s parent organization. The DAISY Foundation was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes after he died from com- plications of the auto-immune disease ITP in 1999. During his hospitalization, they deeply appreci- ated the care and compassion shown to Patrick and his entire family. When he died, they felt com- pelled to say “thank you” to nurses in a very pub- lic way. AHA Regional Policy Boards discuss policy issues and alternatives. The boards then make recommendations and provide analyses to the AHA Board of Trustees for use in their policy deliberations.
