58 JUL / AUG 2022  I  HEALTHCARE JOURNAL OF NEW ORLEANS Hospital Rounds LakeviewRegional Announces Daisy AwardWinner Lakeview Regional Medical Center, a campus of Tulane Medical Center, announced that Jade Graham, a nurse in the OB/Pediatric unit, has received the DAISY Award for the fourth quarter of 2021. The DAISY Award is a worldwide program that honors and celebrates the extraordinary clini- cal skill and compassionate care given by nurses every day. Graham was nominated by a fellow Lakeview Regional nurse in November 2021 after she wit- nessed Jade’s unconditional love for her patients. “Our nurses are so dedicated to their patients that they are often surprised when they are nominated for the DAISY Award,” said Jennifer Schmidt, Lakeview Regional CNO. “It is that commitment worth recognizing, and I’m proud of the work they do every day.” Jade’s patient was upset that she could not find anyone to feed her cat while she was hospitalized. After her Thanksgiving night shift, Jade drove to the patient’s home to feed the cat and alleviate the stress and anxiety this was causing her patient. “Jade is one of those people that will go above and beyond her job description to help a patient, and in this case, her act of altruism allowed her patient to focus on recovery,” said Rosie Costanza, certified registered nurse. “Her compassionate heart is one of the many reasons Jade deserves the DAISY Award.” STHS Emergency TeamEarns 2021 Brilliance Award Vizient Southern States has recognized St. Tam- many Health System with a 2021 Brilliance Award in recognition of an innovative patient navigation initiative designed to reduce avoidable admis- sions and readmissions through the Emergency Department.
