His mission was threefold: to provide critical care and evacuation services to injured civilians in the region, education, and supplication. In this article, he provides a personal account of the health crisis impacting innocent families, as well as how healthcare professionals from around the world are uniting to come to their aid. Déry writes this personal account with the help of his long-time colleague Christian Vӧgeli.
