HOSPITAL HEALTH FORCE 10 JAN / FEB 2021 I HEALTHCARE JOURNAL OF NEW ORLEANS TRACEY SCHIRO, MBA Senior Vice President of Risk Management and Chief Human Resources Officer, Ochsner Health Tracey Schiro was named Ochsner Health’s chief Human Resources officer in 2017. She oversees all aspects of HR for employees and physicians, including talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, employee development and learning, and she supports HR elements of strategic affiliations with other providers. She also oversees the Legal and Compliance departments. She joined Ochsner in 2007 as assistant vice president, Compensation, Benefits and Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS). Tracey received a Bachelor of Science in Management with a concentration in Human Resources at the University of New Orleans, where she also received a Master of Business Administration (MBA). GREGORY RUPPERT, MBA Vice President of Human Resources, Tulane Health System Greg Ruppert is a healthcare HR executive with more than 20 years of experience. He joined Tulane Health System as the vice president of Human Resources in January 2016. Prior to his Tulane Health System role, he was vice president of Human Resources at Peoples Health. Greg is a longtime member of the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) and is active in the New Orleans community. KENNETH CORTEZ, PHR, SHRM-CP Human Resources Manager, Terrebonne General Medical Center Kenneth Cortez received a baccalaureate degree from Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana. He has over 21 years of human resources experience including the last eight-plus years in healthcare. He is a Certified Professional in Human Resources through the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI), and a Certified Professional through the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). While Kenneth has experience in all areas of Human Resources, his expertise lies in training and employee relations. NEW ORLEANS’ HOSPITAL HEALTH FORCE — AN HR ROUNDTABLE It might be the understatement of the decade, but many firsts in our lifetimes have happened because of COVID-19. As the weight of this pandemic hits in waves, no part of society has been appreciated more than you, the healthcare workforce. We thought we would check in on the status of the New Orleans hospital force by interviewing the human resource leads for facilities facing the brunt of the waves’ impacts.
