Thibodaux Regional Health SystemWelcomes Tashfin Huq, MD, to theMedical Staff Thibodaux Regional Health System announced the addition of Tashfin Huq, MD, neurologist, to the active medical staff. Huq is available to care for patients at Thibodaux Regional Neurology Clinic located 726 North Acadia Road, Suite 2300, in Thibodaux. Huq received an undergraduate degree from Princeton University in Princeton, N.J. He then received a medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, where he also performed a neurology residency and an internal medicine internship. Additionally, Huq completed a fellowship in vascular neurology at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City, N.Y. Huq specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of neurological conditions such as stroke, epilepsy, migraine, other headache dis- orders, neuropathy, Parkinson’s, and Alzheimer’s disease. Huq is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and is a member of the American Neurological Association, the Amer- ican Academy of Neurology, the American Med- ical Association, and the Louisiana State Medi- cal Society. TGMCWelcomes Sagger Mawri, MD, and Andres Vargas, MD Terrebonne General Medical Center (TGMC) welcomed two new Interventional cardiologists, Sagger Mawri, MD, and Andres Vargas, MD. Mawri and Vargas will practice at TGMC and Car- diovascular Institute of the South (CIS). Mawri received a medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Gre- nada, completed an internal medicine residency and fellowship in general cardiovascular diseases and interventional cardiology at Henry Ford Hos- pital/Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit. He attended the University of Detroit- Mercy in Detroit, where he received dual bache- lor’s degrees in biochemistry and biology and a master’s degree in chemistry, graduating summa cum laude. Vargas earned a doctorate of medicine at the University of Guayaquil in Ecuador. He completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Louisiana State University in Shreveport, La., where he was named chief resident. He also com- pleted fellowships in cardiovascular medicine and interventional cardiology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa, being named chief cardiology fellow. St. Tammany Health System Earns A+ fromFitch Fitch Ratings has affirmed the A+ Issuer Default Rating (IDR) for St. Tammany Parish Hospital Ser- vice District No. 1, (St. Tammany Health System) with positive outlook. According to Fitch, “The affirmation of the A+ rating reflects strong operating performance that has helped support solid liquidity and lever- age metrics even in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.” STPH Board Chairman John Evans said, “STHS has worked hard to maintain our strong rating despite the pandemic and current economic outlook. Our board has been dedicated to posi- tion STHS for continued success into the future. This A+ Positive Outlook rating is one more step toward that goal.” Terrebonne General Medical Center Board of Commissioners Appointments Announced Terrebonne General Medical Center (TGMC) announced that Kerry Chauvin and Ben Adams, MD, have been appointed to the TGMC Board of Commissioners. Michael Bergeron has been re-appointed to a second term. Chauvin is a native of Terrebonne Parish, and the retired chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Gulf Island Fabrication, Inc. Chauvin previously served on many boards and received the Distinguished MBA Alumnus of the Year Award given by the LSU Alumni Association. He was a founding member of the South Cen- tral Industrial Association, the Terrebonne Water- ways Association, and a founding director of Syn- ergy Bank, where he served as the chairman of the board of Synergy Bancshares, Inc. and its subsid- iary Synergy Bank from 2003-2006. He is the past president of the Terrebonne Economic Develop- ment Authority and Partek Laboratories. Ben Adams, MD, is a member of the TGMC active medical staff where he serves as the Sur- gery Department chair and as the medical director of surgery.
