The panel is com- prised of five ID-trained physicians and three ID- trained pharmacists with many years of expert stewardship experience. STQNAnnounces 2019 Second Quarter Medical Director’s Award St. Tammany Quality Network presented the 2019 second quarter Medical Director Award to Dr. Joseph Landers, Dr. Andrew Baier, Dr. Dan- iel Illie, and Kathy Felps for the development and implementation of the Accountable Care Unit (ACU) at St. Tammany Parish Hospital (STPH). The ACU team-based care model includes hos- pital medicine, clinical pharmacists, attending nurses, case managers, and social workers, all of achieved standards aligned with evidence-based national guidelines such as the IDSA-SHEA guide- lines and the Centers for Disease Control and Pre- vention’s Core Elements. “Antimicrobial resistance is one of the greatest threats facing healthcare on a global, national, and individual level. In fact, antibiotic-resistant infec- tions are the third leading cause of death in this country. IDSA is fighting antimicrobial resistance on every front, including research, education, train- ing, and through our policy efforts. IDSA is proud to partner with St. Tammany Parish Hospital and others that have received the Centers of Excel- lence designation in turning the tide against anti- microbial resistance,” said IDSA President Cynthia Sears, MD, FIDSA. The core criteria for the CoE program place emphasis on an institution’s ability to implement stewardship protocols to optimize the treatment of infections and reduce adverse events associ- ated with antibiotic use by leveraging electronic and other care transition interventions. Guillot encouraged patients to follow the Amer- ican Heart Association's seven goals for heart health, which include eating a healthy diet, exer- cising regularly, avoiding excess weight, not smok- ing, and keeping blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar within a healthy range. IDSAConfers Center of Excellence Designation on STPH St. Tammany Parish Hospital has been named a Center of Excellence for Antimicrobial Steward- ship by the Infectious Diseases Society of Amer- ica (IDSA). St. Tammany Parish Hospital is one of only 64 programs nationwide to earn IDSA Center of Excellence (CoE) since the program’s launch in 2017. The program recognizes institutions that have created stewardship programs led by infec- tious diseases physicians and ID-trained phar- macists that are of the highest quality and have Lakeview Regional Medical Center receives the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines®–Stroke GOLD PLUS Quality Achievement Award.
