St. Charles Parish Hospital Recognized as a Top General Hospital by Leapfrog Group St. Charles Parish Hospital has been recognized as a 2018 Top General Hospital by The Leap- frog Group. The honor is designated based on data gathered through its annual hospital survey, which compares hospital performance on national patient safety, quality, efficiency, and manage- ment standards. The Luling-based facility is the only hospital in Louisiana to receive this presti- gious honor in 2018. “Leapfrog is proud to recognize the recipients of our most elite award for safety and quality. We’re encouraged by the hard work of Top Hos- pitals, as well as all of the hospitals that compete for this award. Their transparency and determina- tion delivers the best possible care in their com- munities,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “This honor is a testament to efforts of each team member to create a healing, safe envi- ronment that offers exceptional healthcare to our community,” said Austin Reeder, CEO of St. Charles Parish Hospital. “Our motto of ‘Every Patient. Every Time.’ is reflected in the collabora- tion and engagement demonstrated daily.” St. Charles Parish Hospital is a 59-bed facil- ity which was created as a service district hos- pital in 1959. In 2014, a partnership with Och- sner Health System established the sharing of best medical practices and the implementation of advanced technology, resulting in improved quality, expanded access to care, and reduction in medical costs. Since the beginning of the partner- ship, access to high quality healthcare has greatly expanded in St. Charles Parish, including the opening of the Plantation View Medical Offices, providing expanded access to Primary Care, Urol- ogy, Family Medicine, Pediatrics, and Women’s Services, as well as an outpatient Pharmacy. “We’ve made significant investments in infra- structure, technology, and expansion of services, which have led to improved outcomes, patient sat- isfaction, and recognition by the nation’s leading quality organizations,” continued Reeder. “Our board of directors has also passionately advo- cated for keeping and expanding care locally.” In 2018, 11 Ochsner facilities were recognized with an ‘A’ grade in patient safety by The Leap- frog Group.
