An important key to changing this and build- ing a heathier future for our kids is invest- ing in the training and education of our fu- ture healthcare providers now. Children’s Hospital is proud to be the only pediatric facility in the state of Louisiana (and one of few in the country) to incorporate two ac- ademic pediatric programs under one roof. With a newly established Department of Medical Education, led by Dr. Bonnie Des- selle, we are working to ensure a seamless transition for Tulane University School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics learn- ers into the longstanding academic part- nership with LSU Health New Orleans. The expanded and innovative Depart- ment of Medical Education will allow coordination of educational services for medical students, post-graduate physician learners, nursing and advanced practice provider students, and a broad array of interprofessional learners. These groups are essential to providing team-based and family-centered healthcare to children and adolescents into the future. Children’s Hospital is developing state-of-the-art environments for our students and providers to improve communication, refine critical thinking skills, and enhance clinical training.
