On March 8, St. Tammany Health System is partnering with Brianna McDaniel, MD, of Mc Daniel Dermatology and local healthcare providers for the St. Tammany United in Pink Ladies Night Out Baseline Bunnies event. The gathering will be held 5-7 p.m. at the Covington Beer Garden.
Participants will receive their first baseline screening mammogram or get an annual screening.
According to the Louisiana Department of Health, Joe Kanter, MD, Louisiana public health officer, is resigning from the post.
Kanter has served in the position since January 2021, having replaced Jimmy Guidry, MD. Guidry served the in office for 24 years. Pete Croughan, MD, deputy LDH secretary, has been named interim state health officer.
A highlights of Kanter’s leadership was his push toward vaccine drives among nursing home residents and staff, who were among the hardest hit with COVID fatalities and serious illnesses early in the pandemic.
Ochsner Medical Center – New Orleans achieved accreditation as a Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery, and Ochsner Baptist – A Campus of Ochsner Medical Center, inclusive of Ochsner Medical Center and Ochsner Medical Complex- Clearview, received accreditation as a Center of Excellence in Continence Care for Women by SRC (Surgical Review Corporation). This accreditation recognizes Ochsner Health’s commitment to a high standard of quality patient care delivery and safety.
DePaul Community Health Centers (DCHC) announced that its medical director, Robert M. Post, MD, will be honored with the 2024 Public Health Leadership Award by the Medical Association of Southeast Louisiana (MASELA). Post will receive his award at the Jefferson Parish Medical Society, Orleans Parish Medical Society, and MASELA Celebration of Medicine on March 8 at the Metairie Country Club.
Terrebonne General Health System has named Sonya Jeblonski the new director of Laboratory and Pathology Services. Jablonski has served as the lab and pathology manager at Terrebonne General for the past 18 years.
