LDEQ Accepting 2019 Environmental Leadership Program Award Applications

Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ) is accepting applications for the 2019 Environmental Leadership Program (ELP) Awards. The ELP Awards commend members for their voluntary pollution prevention efforts, community environmental outreach initiatives, and other activities that go above and beyond regulatory compliance to improve the environment.

The award categories include pollution prevention, community environmental outreach, environmental ordinance and enforcement, and environmental management systems. Projects must have concluded or had benefits realized in the 2018 calendar year to be eligible.

Deadline for award applications is March 22. Any member of the Louisiana Environmental Leadership Program is eligible to enter. It is not too late to join the program and submit a project as long as the project fits eligibility requirements. Eligible participants may submit multiple project entries and qualify to win multiple awards, based on the merit of each project. LDEQ Secretary Dr. Chuck Brown makes the final selection of award recipients based on selection panel recommendations.

There are many benefits to membership in the ELP. Primarily, members are recognized by their communities as an organization committed to maintaining and improving the quality of Louisiana’s environment. ELP membership includes businesses, federal facilities, non-governmental organizations, schools, and universities. For more information about the ELP,  visit the DEQ website at www.deq.louisiana.gov/elp. To apply for the 2019 ELP awards, visit www.deq.louisiana.gov/form/36.
